Wave digital model of calcium‐imaging‐based neuronal activity of mice

The modeling of real neuronal networks by close-to-biology circuits can contribute to a better understanding these from circuit theoretical point view. This potentially lead novel design principles for electrical circuits. process involves the mimicking measured activity, which is often only available as calcium imaging recordings. In this work, we develop wave digital model emulator capable calcium-imaging-based activity mouse neurons. For purpose, an reference neuron based on extended Morris–Lecar in combination with RC circuit. parameters are determined parameter scaling without requiring any optimization. input signal resulting designed estimating spike times inference software MLspike. Wave emulations show successful calcium-based neurons located visual, motor and somatosensory cortex well possibility predict ion currents occurring during activity. proves suitability considered types It also implies that act observer signals achieved despite lack electrophysiological measurements most cases. Hence, proposed be seen important step toward being able verify electrophysiology.
